HP-Ux 11 clients failing with 13

Greetings Everyone,

My master is running on solaris 6.5.6 and clients are running on 6.5.3 version. HP unix client is failing with status 13 since a month. I have tried increasing the time out but it dint work, tried excluding the files which are getting failed but the log here in hp ux looks kinda different to me. enabled verbose 5 created bpbkar, bpcd directories. Kindly help me solving the issue

I even tried adding parameter IGNORE_XATTR =YES but no luck !!

I have attached bpbkar log along with the post which is really huge and i tried to trim it down a bit and im suspecting issue could be with the last 100 lines.

Thanks in advance

looks like you have the issue with the FS /uiexport2/

does df -k is working fine...and returning the command prompt?

if it is not returning the command prompt you need to work with OS admin to fix that first.

@ Ram  thanks for addressing the issue and i ran df -k and it is returning the commandprompt. Ignore_xattr is not working for all the clients

yes, please post the detail status of the failed job

and does the bpbkar log is with VERBOSE 5 , if not please set it to Verobse 5 and run the job again and attach the logs

also what is the client read timeout value in media server?

run the below command and see how much time its taking to compleate it.

ls -R  /uiexport2/

Yes... timeout...

You need to find out why backup is getting stuck (hanging?) at that specific point.

Try to use 'normal' tar command to backup /uiexport2 to /dev/null. Use options such as 'cvf' to display filenames as they are read.

Let us know what happens.

Ram : client time out is set to 9600 and verbose is already set to 5.

Command is still running ram and its been 15-20mins since i have run ls -R /uiexport2

it looks like you have huge number of files under the /uiexport2.

try backup by enabling the mulitstreaming  and see which stream is faling, not narrow down the issue..

it would be /uiexport2 i guess..

your ls -R command does not compleate with in 9600 sec... if my guess it correct...

you may need to go for FSCK check and some house keeping on this file system.

ram : how did u identify the problem is with /uiexport2. kindly let me know so that i can look for the same in other issues as well.

bpbkar log hangs at the FS

if you see enabling mulitstreaming backup, you can find job only having the issue FS will fail...

try that and make sure what i pointed is correct...
