How to buy Netbackup Agents

Hello,

I am requested to buy some Netbackup 7.1 agents (Oracle, Exchange, Active Directory,...) But I do not know how to start or what to provide to the reseller (reference or anything else)

Basically this involves knowing your current NetBackup Domain environment assessment. If there is no NetBackup then we would go through your requirements and environment, understand your RPO, RTO and infrastructure availablity, Plans etc.

Backup methodologies what your business means and requires

How may application and databases across multiple Operating flavours are distributed and would be covered under NetBackup etc.

How do you want to protect them. Destination of storage medium (Tape, Disk etc)

Firstly - You can no longer purchase NBU 7.1 Agents.

NBU 7.6 is the latest version and all Agents and Options that are purchaced will be for version 7.6.

The NetBackup Application and Database agent covers all of these:

Oracle
Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Active Directory
IBM DB2, IBM Lotus Notes
Informix
Sybase
Symantec Enterprise Vault

What you need to give your reseller:

OS (incl version) that the application or db is running on
Application or DB version (to check compatibility)
Amount of physical cpu's on application/db server ( to determine tier)

If part of Virtual environment (e.g. VMware), the amount of ESX servers, amount of physical CPU's, different Applications/DBs running on the VMs per ESX server.

Your reseller will give you best advice with regards to Agent vs Capacity license.
