Netbackup 7.5.3 master server.

MSEO license installed.

Tape drive HP 1840 LTO4

HP library - MSL 8096

we are planning to configure KMS server on master server.

Following are my understanding regarding KMS server ->

1) KMS server will manage key not encrypt backup.

We perform following steps mentioned in technote to configure KMS server on master server.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH67972

we have created same volume pool name ENCR_kmsvolume  and same name for keygroup i.e ENCR_kmsvolume.

assign one tape media for ENCR_kmsvolume tape.

Fired same master server backup for file level  on ENCR_kmsvolume volume tape drive. backup got completed but  on image on media encryption key  tag not displayed.

when we fired listkey command for ENCR_kmsvolume key group, command will display encryption key tag.

\netbackup\bin\admincmd\nbkmsutil -listkeys -kgname ENCR_kmsvolume

as per my understanding backup was encrypted by tape native encryption type not from netbackup KMS.

Request you to check and confirm steps or any steps missed by me?

You are right - the image shoud now have been encrypted by the tape drive.

There is a T/N on how verify the image in fact has been encrypted:
