Hi Shekarsraj,

You should have a catalog backup configured as the VERY FIRST step before configuring any client backups.

This uses policy type NBU-Catlog and is covered in section 5 of the Admin Guide Volume I (Protecting the NetBackup Catalog).  The catalog backup can be written to tape, disk, and even replicated to a remote site using AIR.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Please read up in NBU Admin Guide as well as Disaster Recovery chapter of Troubleshooting Guide. The catalog resides on the master server. Catalog backup should be written to external storage (disk or tape) that needs to be accessible in case of disaster. Don't forget to also store the DR-file where it can be found in case of disaster. A network drive is advisable. Configure email notification for catalog backup. This email will contain location of catalog backup, steps to perform catalog recovery as well as the dr-file.
