How to reinstall a NetBackup Media Server

helpdesk_ni

Hello,

I need to reinstall a media server due to OS issues, everything is going to be kept ( I mean configuration, host name, etc). There's a correct procedure to do this? Do I need to decommission the media server first? What can I save of the current configuration to assure proper reinstallation?

The media server is NetBackup 6.5.3 and is running on windows 2003.

In advanced thanks for your help,

Best Regards,

Might be worth downloading and running nbsu utility. It captures a lot of configuration information, and is what Symantec ask you to run to collect config for troubleshooting and analysis.

The NetBackup Support Utility (NBSU) is a Symantec utility used to gather diagnostic information about the system on which the utility is run. By default, NBSU gathers appropriate diagnostic information based on the Operating System and NetBackup environment. With the availability of many command line options, the diagnostic information gathered can be tuned as desired.

You might also want to move any assigned media to another media server or the master server, as you could lose that information.
Look at the decommission documents if you go that route.
