How to restore Oracle RMAN Backup Pieces taken by Netbackup

Hi,

We are going to implement Netbackup 7.7 soon. Currently we are running RMAN Backups taken directly to disks. I have a question: Once we implement netbackup, RMAN backup will be taken directly on tapes via netbackup. If we want to restore only the backup pieces (not the actual RMAN Restore), how can we do it? Will it show the list from bp command if we specify the date / server?

Thanks

If you use rman to backup, you can only restore using rman.

All the 'howto' info in NBU for Oracle Admin Guide.

If you call the rman script from netbackup, there is some interaction between netbackup and rman.

I have this note - it may be undocumented/prior version - not sure if it will work for you

# To find media to restore for oracle clients by Oracle block file - ON THE SOURCE CLIENT run this command:
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd -ml /db_717_1_662950820 -ct Oracle
# if you have dates you can add -s mm/dd/yy

Obviously you will need to replace the db_717_1_662950820 with your piece

The restore process runs from an rman script, the DBA always set those up, and I think you can set your script to restore specific pieces.
