Hello Gurus,

We are having a difficult time to restore  file that was dated last March & August 2017.

We have the montly back up for the files.

May we seek assistance on how to restore the files that we need from the external tapes that we got?

Hello,

how to restore the files that we need from the external tapes that we got?

You can restore the data if it used in NBU to take backup.

1. Is that tape visible when you click on media or robot in java console?
2. Are you able to see the image in NBU catalog which needs to restore from that tape?
3. If it is not visible in media and catalog then do you know the media id of that tape?

The next restore steps will depend on the above information.

Regards,

Tousif

What was the retention in NBU?
Has the backup expired but the tape has not been overwritten yet?

If the backup has expired, you can import the backup images from the tape.
See this TN: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100017201

If the backups have not yet expired, you should be able to browse for backups in BAR using the client name that was used in the policy and by selecting the policy type.
Once you have found the backup date and files, you can preview the media that is needed.
Ensure that the tape/tapes are in the library before you start the restore.
