How to set up catalog replocation from one master to another

mprazeres

Hi guy's.

First of all, I want to thank everyone of you for the previously help you provided me so far.
I have a last question that I need to be answered so that I can complete my POC.

Right now my POC invironment looks like this:
1 Masterserver
1 Mediaserver

Both are running localy and are doing they'r jobs, I created 3 policies, 1 for Exchange backup and DB, 1 for clientbase backup and 1 for vmware backups. All are running perfectly and so far all so good.

Yesterday I have installed 1 Masterserver (Appliance) to one of our Worldwide sites.
The Masterserver is also configured and it's currently doing backups for the local vGuests with his own MediaServer.

Now comes the question.
I wan't the Masterserver (Appliance) who resides in that site to replicate his Catalog to our local Masterserver.
So that we have the Catalog here in case of a DR, so that we could just reinstall the whole thing here in Bern (Localsite) and then send the Hardware wherever it needs to go with the restore done.

For this szenario I guess I need to define SLP (But I don't know what the right settings are)
And I will need to marry both Masterservers by defining somewhere the Deduppassword

So if anybody of you could help me with this, that would be awsome.

Best regards,
Marco

Hi,

I'm not sure if there is a document with step-by-step to do this, just because AIR is not really meant for catalog replication.

I found these TN about Catalog replication, maybe you already read this documents, however its can explain you what I want to say.

Hi Thiago,

I already saw that one, unfortunatelly this is only how it works, what I already know. But there is no step by step configuraiton guide or something like that.

Hopefully you are going through the posts listed by @Thiago_Ribeiro.

I agree - replicating the catalog only with dedupe storage in place is useless without the actual images.

AIR does exactly that - it replicates the images to remote master/media server and update the catalogs at the end of the replication.

Steps to configure AIR replication can be found in NBU Admin Guide I.

Links to manuals in Handy NBU Links in my signature.

Hi to both, thanks a lot for the replies and the help.

Indeed, I'm not trying only to backup the catalog, as the catalog alone is useless.
I could now configure NetBackup Auto Image Replication and currently i'm replicating the images and the catalog aswell. It works with the SLP I created (Import on the Master Master server) and a backup and replication on the (secondary Master server on our global locations) right now i'm also testing the restore over the Swiss masterserver, when I shutted down the secondary Masterserver, and he could access the local Image to restore! So my test is running great! Thanks to you guys

Best regards,
Marco
