Hi All,
We have SL8500 tape library utilised by NBU Domain (7.1) and we want to add one more NBU domain (7.5) and utilise same library.
However we wont be sharing the drives and media between two domains by adding new drives/media for new NBU domain.
We would like to know the ways we can configure the library so that media of different domains are not visible to each other.
Does anybody has solution for this ?
Regards,
Bharat

Or use ACSLS Volume Access Control feature (no partitioning required). I have shared 2 SL8500 across 5 NBU domain for years using this feature. Volume access control will filter inventory request from Netbackup domain allowing them to see their own media's only.

You can use the Partitioning feature of the tape library. Please find the full details of this feature in the SL8500 user's guide.

Controlled by ACSLS?
If so, you can create volume pools in ACSLS and add INVENTORY_FILTER in vm.conf.
Detailed info in Device Config Guide: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5186
ACSLS documentation covers media ownership.

@Nicolai and Bshet,
Next to setting up volume acces control on Acsls, make sure that you also enable the watch_vols utiltiy. This feature will enables you to assign userID (amongst other things) directly upon entering in the library.
Make sure that statistics are turned on in acsss_config prior to enabling acces control.
Hope this helps,

Hi All,
Thanks for all the information. We are looking into the volume access control feature of ACSLS to share the library.
@Nicolai,
Thanks for the link its very useful.
