Did you checked Event Viewer of Hyper-V VM's for related messages why the reboot was occured ?

Has it ever worked?

Unplanned system restart has to be investigated on the OS level as suggested by PatS729, might be the system is going to a "Saving State" during the backup? If that is the case, make sure that Guest VM can be " quiesced" for online backup (https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.HOWTO101560) or disable "Enable offline backup for non-VSS VMs" (https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000068006)

Hello,

First, you *really* have to get your Hyper-V hosts updated with the lasts Hotfixes.

  • Hyper-V : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3135020
  • Cluster role (if applicable) : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2920151

Without them, don't even consider using host-based backups !!!

Also, upgrade NBU to 7.7.2.
