Which policy type is used for this backup?
Is this really the hostname of the client?
Symantec(Brightmail)-2) ?
I don't think special characters are supported in hostnames.
05-05-2016 12:43 AM
yes that is the host name. we are using Hyper-V as policy type.
05-05-2016 01:07 AM
Okay, so according to the manual, Left and right parentheses () are allowed in hostname.
You will need to enable logging to troubleshoot as Activity Monitor simply reports a network error (10054).
On Hyper-V host, you need bpbkar log.
On media server: bpbrm and bptm.
Increase logging level to 3.

There are totallly 3 Hyper-V machines in the base windows machine(in which client was installled). In which we are able to take Hyper-V backup for alll the machines except one Machine. i.e.., what i have mentioned above as Ubuntu.

We may need to see your backup policy:
bppllist mypolicyname -U
.
And, AFAIK, in order to be able to take a Hyper-V style VM level backup of a Linux guest VM, then the Linux guest VM needs to have MS LIS installed, but...
...it appears as though MS LIS v4.0.11 does not support Ubuntu guests:

...see the pdf in the download link.

I have Done the same but still same issues.
When we make those hyper-v Machines offline, and after weare able to take the backup successfuly without any errors.

According to https://technet.microsoft.com/en-GB/library/dn531029.aspx LIS are included for specified Ubuntu versions.
In addition to Marianne's comment, also check Event Logs on the Hyper-V node which "owns" affected VM in case BPBKAR32 process is crashing.
