I can't Backup Exchange 2007. it's return Status 71

I have fresh install NetBackup 6.5 Master Server on Windows 2003 R2 x64 Service pack 2 and then update patch to 6.5.3.1.

I have Microsoft Exchange 2007 run on OS Windows 2008 Enterprise x64 Service Pack 1 and I had install NetBackup client 6.5.2 for Windows 2008 and then update patch to 6.5.3.1 same as NetBackup Master server.

I created Policy to backup Exchange 2007 by select MS-Exchange-server and throw backup on disk.
I had checked both Allow multiple data stream and Enable document restore.
Client can access from NetBackup Master server (Host properties: client can connected).
Files tab I want to backup Mailboxs, Public folder and Information stores.

When I perform manual backup, it's return status code 71 on Mailboxs: none of the files in the file list exist(71)
But I can backup Information Stores successful.

I checked on exclude list; none of anything relate with Microsoft exchange list.

In details job as below:

15/4/2552 11:59:47 - estimated 0 kbytes needed
15/4/2552 11:59:47 - started process bpbrm (3248)

15/4/2552 12:00:02 - end writing
none of the files in the file list exist(71)

I catch logs from C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\bpbkar on attatch file

Please help, how can I solve this problem?

Just some things I would consider:

- The Netbackup Client service on the Exchange server needs to run as a domain account that has proper rights to access the Exchange objects for mailbox backups.  It cannot run as LOCAL_SYSTEM.
- I would create 3 seperate policies, 1 for Public Folders, 1 for Information Stores and 1 for Mailbox backups.
- Make sure you have the MAPI client installed on the Exchange server
- I would go back over the following documentation:  ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/NetBackup_Enterprise_Server/302438.pdf (Chapter 8).

1. Uncheck the document level recovery option and try the backup
2. If the above works then you need to install NFS on your server and the media server that will be doing the backup.
3. Read the Exchange Admin docs for full details.
4. Remember document level recovery is only possible if you channel your backups to disk!

Hi

Please go through the doc http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/300855.htm

I could access the server, backup the server, but could not get the 2008 exchange to backup.

I am not an exchange person so I cannot tell you exactly what was wrong.
But when I talked to my exchange person, he said that they had NOT added the admins to the exchange group on the 2008 exchange.

Once the admins were setup to access exchange my mailstore backups worked fine.

Sorry I could not be more specific.

I was having the same problem backing up exchange 2007 on win2008.  If you've followed all the instructions from the documentation and you are still having this problem this may help you solve your issue.

I had to disable IPv6 on the exchange server and the CAS server.

and also add the following registry key to both.

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters

Add new>DWORD(32-bit) Value and name it the following

DisabledComponents and give it the following value ffffffff

This fixed the problem for me.  The solution came from Symantec support.

One note on this is that starting w/Version 6.5.3 if you can get the mailbox backups to work you wont really need to do it separate from the information store because it can be done right off of the database backups.
