Please provide more details from installation log.

Have you verified all pre-req's in the Installation Guide?
e.g: Install NetBackup on a file system that supports long file names.

Have you verified cd/dvd is mounted with correct options? installation will fail if mounted with incorrect options:

To mount and unmount the CD or DVD on HP-UX varies, depending on the version of the operating system you are running.

To mount the CD or DVD on HP-UX 11.23 or later operating systems
1 Log in as root.
2 Mount the CD or DVD, as follows:
mount -F cdfs device_path mount_point
To unmount the CD or DVD on HP-UX 11.23 or later operating systems
3 Unmount the CD or DVD, as follows:
umount mount_point
4 Remove the CD or DVD from the drive.

To mount the CD or DVD on HP-UX operating systems earlier than 11.23
1 Log in as root.
2 Create the mount point (for example, mkdir /cdrom).
3 Start the PFS daemons, as follows:
nohup pfs_mountd &
nohup pfsd &
4 Mount the CD or DVD, as follows:
pfs_mount -o xlat=unix device_path mount_point
To find the device path, you can run ioscan -fn.
For example, the following command mounts the CD or DVD using /cdrom
as the mount point and /dev/rdsk/c3t2d0as the device path:
pfs_mount -o xlat=unix /dev/rdsk/c3t2d0 /cdrom

I am installing through NFS mount.

Is the install media mounted on the source server with correct options?
Is install media shared/exported on source server with root permission?

This command fails to complete within the 10 min timeout (600):
9:1:42 exec /usr/sbin/swinstall -s /mnt/NB_65_ICS_1.4.37.1_HP/HP11.00/depot -x autoreboot=true -x verbose=1 -x autoselect_dependencies=false VRTSicsco 2>>/var/tmp/installics-hMI0Rw/installics-hMI0Rw.install.VRTSicsco.abc 1>>/var/tmp/installics-hMI0Rw/installics-hMI0Rw.install.VRTSicsco.abc

Timeout happens after 10 minutes (09:11).

Copy it to a local directory and run the installation from there.

We could try to troubleshoot all day what's different about the NFS but you did say "urgent" :) - the bottom line is the installation will succeed if you copy it to a local directory and run the install from there.

I used this command to mount

mount -F nfs -o ro test:/images/netbackup /mnt

Actually we need to install this version on many servers, so we need to use through NFS only..

thanks

My colleague experienced the same problem recently.
It turned out to be a problem with the O/S swagent. The system owner killed all the hung processes and restarted the swagent.
Installation went through after that.

1. Totally agree with CRZ. Take NFS out of the picture.
2. For AIX: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/307435.htm
