Image retention of backups

Hi,

How can I extend the image retention of backups via the NBU Admin Console?

The backup image is a full backup. Please advice, thanks!

You cannot extend image retention via the GUI.

Only via cmd using bpexpdate command.

The Catalog section of the GUI only allows you to expire images, not change retention level or future expiration date.

I am experiencing a problem related to this topic. Can I expire images on disk via the GUI. I am not familiar with the cmds. Can somebody guide me as I am new to netbackup. I need to cleanup space on my disk drive. Also if I expire then will the image cleanup utility that i see run in the activity monitor cleanup the expired images?

Hi Marianne, Ok, the thing is that since the backup is full backup. There are alot of tapes used (around 20 media), hence I need to check each backup id in all tapes.. A lot of work to do which may 'cause mistake and i want to avoid it. I have an image taken where I'm thinking this could extend the image on the tape.. please check. Thank you.

No - that is hardware expiration of the tape - a date that you feel the physical tape will be too old to use - nothing to do with image expiration.

Expiration of all images on a tape can be changed with :

bpexpdate -m <media-id> -d <mm/dd/yyyy>

In my catalog the backup that I ran on 02/01/2013 shows an expiration date of 01/18/2038 in Disk Reports>Images on Disk. How did this happen?

Now I hope they have a patch for this before we really get to 2038

Ok. I have set all my policies set to infinitey. I control the expiration through vault duplication. My Daily and Weekly seem ok. Why only monthly shows this expiration date?
