Hi,

We have a scenario where backup images got expired as per retention period.

We know that images are available at offsite in the media now we need to find out the media which has the images and is there any possibility If I can import those images if i am able to find the media and extend the expiry date.

Thanks,

Ajay Reddy

... now we need to find out the media which has the images ....

There is no way in NBU to find out. All catalog info is deleted when images expire.

Hopefully you have a record of the date that each set of tapes were moved offsite?

You will then have to bring back all tapes moved offsite in that batch, write-protect them and do phase 1 import of all the tapes. (See TECH43584 in above post.)
Check results of phase 1 imports, see if the the client and backup date is in the list of phase 1 images. If so, select image and perform phase 2 import.
The original retention level will be applied to imported image (e.g. 2 week retention will add 2 week expiration as from time of import). You can use bpexpdate command to further extend expiration date.

If required image is not present, try another batch...

Yes definately if the tapes are not overwritten then you can run the phase 1 and phase 2 import on these medias to get your data back.
