Import NBU 4 & 5 expired images into NBU 7

Hi:

¿Is there any restriction on how old NBU images can be imported into NBU 7 ? More specific:

- LTO 2 tapes with NBU 4.5 expired images, imported into NBU 7.5.0.3 and then duplicated to newer tapes (LTO 6/7).

Somebody has had experience doing something alike ?

Best regards.

Importing older version images is possible. Your problem is with your tape drives. Tape drives can only read tapes up to 2 versions back. So, your LTO2 tapes can only be read by LTO2, LTO3 and LTO4 drives.

Hi Marianne:

LTO4 tape drive available :) , so i´ll be working on:

- Enter old tapes and inventoring

- Script for two phase import (lots of tapes, i won´t do it one by one)

- Script for duplicating images to new tape drives

Thanks a lot Marianne, i hope i´m not missing something.

Best regards.

You probably know this but be aware the NBU 7.x and 8.0 Volume 1 Admin Guides all state "NetBackup can import the disk images that NetBackup version 6.0 (or later) writes", so there _could_ be problems with 4.5 & 5.0 imports. However my guess is it will be OK for regular filesystem backups. Also of course anything earlier than 7.7 is now unsupported... BR Andrew
