Import catalog tapes from old Master to my current master.

Hello,

I have to do a restore from a old server. That server is in another Master catalog and I only have the catalog tapes and the tapes with all the backups, that master server is gone and no longer accessible.

Can I import the catalog tapes to my current Master server or it will overwrite my current catalog? I need to know what tapes to use for the restore.

Thanks in advance

(Sorry for my english, not my first language)

You can use 'Recovery without Import' method.
Download the pdf attachment in this URL: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100016138.html

Current catalog entries will not be overwritten as the images from the old server are older than the current images on new server.
It will just add the old entries from the partial catalog recovery. You will not be doing a full catalog recovery, so, no overwrite of EMM database.

PS:
Are you aware that all versions up to NBU 7.6.x ran out of support more than 18 months ago?

Thank you Marianne, will try this.

In  regard to out of support, we know, we are going to discontinue NB soon (are doing it for at least 3 years now :( )

After restore you may find it's not possible to browse some of the old backups, you may need to run cat_import (https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/doc/123533878-127136857-0/v123546474-127136857)  - depending on how old your former server was. Things get complicated a bit when it was not too old then you may need to get it the backup of entire catalog including EMM restored to a different machine with the same version of NBU as took it and do cat_export to make the Recovery without Import work with recent versions of NBU.
