Importing Catalog from HDD location

Hello All,

I've recently moved into a Sys Admin role.  I had to re-install netbackup as the services were completly messed up.  Tried to do repairs but it kept failing.

I have managed to get everything else up and running except the catalog.  The catalog's are saved under D:\Catalog

I have read a few articles & guides about importing the catalog.

I have followed this guide and it completed - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH43584  but when i go to "backup, archive & restore"  it doesnt find any records etc.

Sorry my knowledge with netbackup is a little limited, as i have sort of been thrown into this role.

Any help would be much appreciated.  if you need any info let me know

-Netbackup 6.5.4

-Windows Server 2003 + SP2

Thank you

NetBackup catalog backup is a special processing, you can look at the following technotes to have some ideas about hot catalog backup:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH42555

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH61108

The technote TECH43584 you found is about importing a backup in the catalog and recovering it ... but not about recovering the catalog itself.

In NetBackup 6.5, backup of the catalog is performed by a specific NetBackup Policy which type is "Catalog Backup".

You have to retreive a file names "DR file" and to use it for catalog recovery - this file is generated and most of the time emailed during catalog backup and there is a wizard on the NetBackup main sceen to help you.

Do you have this DR file ? How your catalog has been saved ?

Hi,

When you saved, do you mean backed up, or do you mean that was the folder is was configured in. What does the content of the D:\Catalog look like?
