Importing Old Media

Hey All,

During our upgrade process we had a number of tapes that didnt come across properly, roughly 150.

So I need to find a way of checking which tapes on my list are infinite retention and re-import them into the catalogue. The other im hoping to re-introduce as scratch media if they have expired.

Whats the best / quickest way of checking the retentions of these tapes and then importing them?

Thanks in advance.

If your upgraded system does not know anything about the media in question then there is nothing you can do except importing this media. There is no command to find out which media has infinite retention unless your media DB, which is EMM in 6.0, knows about it.

If you still have access to old NBU DB/server you can run bpmedialist command or availale_media to find out media with infinite retention or media alredy expired.

Hi Mark,

Are you still able to do a bpmedialis on those tapes (e.g. bpmedialist -m )?
