Importing backups from exagrid storage into a DR Master

edmcobra01

I stood up a master server in DR, and I need to import the backups from our production site into our DR Master.

Netbackup 7.5.05 on Windows 2008 R2.

We are using a exagrid to replicate the backups from one site to another.

Be aware that import of large number of files may take time.

Please also note that Netbackup AIR may is the right choise for replicating those chritical backup images

So this will be tricky. How NetBackup stores the location in the catalog is by media id, even for disk. Disk media id is generally @aaaaa, incrementing by letters. From here that points to a pool which then points to the storage server.

So if you were to use the DR file on your DR master server, it will want to point to the original storage server name.

Where it actually goes from here is down to name resolution.

So if the original name actually points to the dr site's exagrid and the credentials and plugin are all the same from the other site, something good may happen.

This would be up to you to test and report back results, but it might be faster to test this than it will be to phase 1 and phase 2 import all of those images.

Nicolai has the right idea about using AIR as you do not seem to have a traditional DR site. Using AIR in this instance, will send the replication between the master servers along with the catalog information.  However, per the HCL, we do not support AIR for ExaGrid until NetBackup 7.6
