Incremantal Backup

Hi,

i have full backup on friday and Cumulative Incremental Backup all as daily.

i tried to run daily backup as Differential Incremental Backup, i test that for two weeks and the backup size result for Diff and Cum same.

How to use Diff to reflect the correct result?

nothing is missed. 

e.g u hav 10 files on ur server. full backup on friday backups all 10 files. then lets say on monday u ran CI backup [backsup file which changed since last full backup]. If file 1,2,3 changed .CI will back them up. it means file 4 to 10 were not even changed. on tuesday u ran DI [files changed since last backup ], only file 1,2,3 were changed hence they will be backedup, but not file 4 to 10.

in ur setup same files are being changed\accessed hence same data backup size on DI and CI.

If u still feel unsatisfied with reply. please create a folder and put 10 files in it and try CI, DI, Full backup using test policy  and test it the way i mentioned u will get to know this practically.

DI should take but after changes on last backup, and you are right about files 1-3, but must take only changes on files 1-3  not all file 1-3.  or will be same IC

NBU will not backup changes on file 1-3 but will backup files 1-3
