Is it possible to install very old version of NetBackup 6.5.6 on Windows Server 2012 R2?
We are virtualizing all windows servers and I will use Veeam to backup them up; however, I have a few unix/linux boxes that I will have to use Netbackup 6.5.6.
Thanks for all your help,
Mark

netbackup 6.5.6 is not compatabile/supported with windows 2012.
you may need to keep one win 2008 server to have the 6.5.6 running to avoide any issues...

Hello
If you upgrade your NetBackup version you wouldn't need Veeam to back them up
Why run 2 backup solutions when you dont need to.

NBU 6.5.6 and W2012?
You cannot be serious!
Have you tried to find release dates for these 2 versions?
I can tell you the Release Date for 6.5.6:
2010-05-06
2010-02-01
End of Life" means the day that a Symantec product enters a process to wind down distribution and the delivery of technical support services.
2012-08-01
Last date for patch releases
2012-10-03
Last date to contact support
I am always amazed when companies upgrade OS to latest levels but do not upgrade their backup software - which is in fact their insurance policy.

Thank guys,
The decision was already made by big guns. Veeam for Virtual servers and old NBU 6.5.6 for a very old HP-Unix, Oracle Linux, CIFS etc. I will just keep the NBU the way it is; Windows 2008 R2
