Is Netbackup can be supported for 31 policies and 600 jobs at a time ?

One of customer’s  server  does backups of 2 non-GEO testlab OSS:es.
There are about  31 policies and about 600 jobs in activity monitor .
Customer faced an issue where   Java heap space  of Netbackup GUI goes out of space and  they could not monitor the jobs status.

Is Netbackup can be supported for 31 policies and 600 jobs  ?, if yes how can we handle this case without the backups being failed.

Hello,

31 policies and 600 jobs is nothing for NetBackup :-).

Of course when HW is properly sized.

Please share Master Server HW/OS/ details with us, as well as NBU version.

regards

Java heap space of Netbackup GUI is a function of the PC running Java Console - there is another thread which references this:

https://www.veritas.com/community/forums/maxmemory-calculation-nbjconf

You should increase the MAX_MEMORY in the config files, here are examples to set to 3078M ( mine is at 4096M ) - how much memory does your PC have available?

I have 38000 total jobs, (only a few hundred active at a time) in my Activity Monitor, with 376 policies and 963 unique clients. I generally have 4 java windows open, Activity Monitor, Media Vault Pool I write to, Policies and Restores. I open new windows if I need to change sorts.

For Windows:
1. Go to C:\Program files\Veritas\Java
2. Edit setconf.bat.
3. Edit the value MAX_MEMORY as given below:
     SET MAX_MEMORY=3078M
4. Save the file and restart BAR GUI.

For UNIX:
1. Go to /usr/openv/java
2. Edit nbj.conf, jnbSA and jbpSA to edit the MAX_MEMORY as follows:
MAX_MEMORY =3078M
