Is it possible to re-use TSM tapes?

We have a new tape library and we'd like to give TSM a chance.  We're going to use new library and new LTO5 tapes in a test environment.
In case we prefer to stay with netbackup it is possible to scratch tapes used by TSM and re-use them with netbackup?

I know netbackup may overwrite:
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = DBR
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = TAR
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = CPIO
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = ANSI
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = MTF1
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = BE-MTF1
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = AOS/VS
ALLOW_MEDIA_OVERWRITE = RS-MTF1

what about TSM tapes?

Thanks in advance.

Statement 2:

Label the tapes to overcome this problem - either cmd using bplabel or right-click media-id in the GUI and select Label. Remember to de-select 'Verify media label'.

I'm pretty confident that 'Allow Media Overwrite = ANSI' will do the trick...

I speak under correction, but I think that TSM writes ANSI header on tapes.

To know for sure, run a backup with the overwrite options selected.
One of 2 things will happen:
1. Backup will succeed with message in Details tab (and bptm log) saying that XXXXX format is being overwritten
2. Backup will fail and tape will be frozen with message in Details tab (and bptm log) saying that XXXXX format was found and cannot be overwritten.

Thank you, Marianne.
If second statement were true there is no way to scratch the tapes in order to re-use them?
