I need to know whether or not it is possible to import Windows Generated Netbackup 6.5.x tapes on a Linux NetBackup Master/Media server and vice versa.  The server is standard, and stand-alone.

It shouldn't be a problem at all.   I'be been mixing Solaris, Windows, HPUX, and Linux media servers for years.

You can import tape anywhere where you can run tar...

Also you can share tape media between any supported platform

that you can import images from older versions of NetBackup (although there are limitations) & also from BackupExec, then you should have no problems at all.

To quote the Admin Guide for 6.5:

"...
NetBackup can import backups that have expired, backups from another NetBackup server, or backups written by Backup Exec for Windows. (Supports Backup Exec versions 7.0 through 9.1.)
..."

Although (not relevant to you but just thought I'd add this!):

"...
NetBackup does not support reading Backup Exec media that written by Backup Exec for NetWare.

Hi

From my experience, you will get into some hiccups. (Forgive me for this statement! ) :)

This is due to the difference in blocksize. Very useful links:
