If telnet is not working, definately a network issue (telnet is 'outside' of NetBackup'.

You need to troubleshoot this as a network problem - forget NetBackup.

Clients IP address is a majjjor change - is the hosts file on the media server and / or DNS up to date ???

What happens with this :

telnet <ip address of client> 13782

Try the IP address ???

Please answer all these questions in detail.

If the answer to 6. is Yes, please note, the answer to 7 is unlikely to be 'Nothing'.

This level of informtion should be provided for every post.

1.   The exact error message (if an error is given)
2.   At what point in the job does the issue occur, for example, right at the beginning.
3.  What version of NBU / What version of operating systems on media server and client

5.   Please send in the contents of the details tab in the Activity Monitor for the job.
6   Has this worked previously?  If so, when was the last time it DID work?
7.  Have there been any environmental; system; or configuration changes?
8.  When did the problem begin?
9. Is a similar configuration working properly?

10. Any firewall between media server and client

Please run this command on the media server

 bptestbpcd -verbose -host <client hostname>

 What is the output

Logs involved would be bpbrm on media server/ bpcd on client, pref. both at VERBOSE = 5

You missed a few ...

6   Has this worked previously?  If so, when was the last time it DID work?

7.  Have there been any environmental; system; or configuration changes?
8.  When did the problem begin?

10. Any firewall between media server and client

... also, please try this ...

From the media sever:

telnet <client name> 13782    - what do you see.

From what I have seen so far, it looks like the Stuart has explained, you have a network issue between media server and client.  we need the answers to the other questions.

You need to get your network team to investigate.

Martin

Thanks,
