Java console process spawning ...it is an issue.

I'm running 7604 and encountered some odd out of memory issues around midnight...sendmail crashes, running jobs ditto. Did a lot of digging around project mem settings and then resorted to bpps -a ...simple! Ive got over 1000 bpjava processes running.

It wasnt like this in the very recent past.

Apparently this is by design according to one hit in search!

This is a bug no? You just end up with a resource shortage as the javagui processes stack up and they stack up pretty quickly: fire up the gui and go into activity monitor: 16 processes. Go into bar : 26. Go into device monitor:35 !

OK as the solution is simple is not a major headache but really, this is a change in behaviour. Leaving the java console running for any decent length of time is no longer a good idea.

Any thoughts out there in the community?

Jim

Re: Java console process spawning ...it is an issue.

Uninstalled this on my laptop

https://www.veritas.com/community/forums/security-hot-fix-have-you-done

and my problems are diminished. Cruised all around the java gui and the process count is 4 and steady, not 55 and counting.

Thats NB_7.6.0.4_ET3865361_1.

Result of sorts. Its a bug.

Dont see an edit button these days...heres the thread that says its by design, with a link to the relevant article...which points to nowhere!

This does not sound right. I don't see this behaviour on 7.6.1.2.

I don't think its a bug either, more somthing that prevent the java processes from performing a normal exit.

Could be me Nicolai (thanks for confirming 7612 behaviour) however there is that other search hit mentioning the same thing. It does seem to have appeared since moving to 7604 and use of the secure session. Looks like I will need to raise a call.

Did a robot inventory, loaded a few tapes and now I've got 55 javas buzzing around. I need to investigate.
