Hi,

I have installed NBU 7.5 Master & Media Server on single windows 2008 Server. TL is also configured on same server (zonig has been done on san switch).

We have client on SAN (AIX & Win), also we have configured TL on AIX & WIN Clients. On all the client we have enabled SAN Client using below command:-

For Windows:

Install_path\NetBackup\bin\bpclntcmd.exe -sanclient 1

For Unix

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpclntcmd  -sanclient 1

./bp.start_all

We can view the san client on Admin console - Device and media management->devices->SAN Client

But whenever we fire the backup command in job stauts it shows Transport Type LAN.

How to Verify wherther backup is happening Over the SAN or on LAN.

Regards,

Mitesh

Windows Master/Media server cannot be used as Fibre Transport media server for SAN Client.

Only Solaris Sparc and Linux media servers are supported with specific QLogic HBA's.

The NetBackup SAN Client and Fibre Transport Troubleshooting Guide is probably the best 'Getting Started' guide but has unfortunately not been updated since 2010.

Apart from the Requirements, all info is still relevant.

Please see the latest HCL for updated requirements: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495

Hi Mitesh.Nandu,

Can you check the network utilization on the client and verify?

Run a test backup with one single big file

You can also use the following technotes/HowTo's to verify/Troubleshoot SAN Clients configuration
