LINUX individual file restores From VMware Method Backups

Hello!

I've test w2k8r2 "Master/Media/vm backup host", with nbu7.61  all linux vmdk cann be browsed and by need some file's and directories can be restored.

After upgrading to 7.7.1 I can browse win vmdk but not linux vmdk.

what's running wrong?

What is the linux client OS and version?

Have you installed the SymQuiesce util in the guest?

Hello Riaan,

vsphere 5.5 with HW Version 10,  vm os are Oracle Linux 7 and RH Linux7.  SymQuiesce is not installed! I think browse of VMDK is independ of quiescing.

Did you select 'enable individual file restore' on the VMware backup policy which saved the Linux VM?

yes sure! in the same policy I am able to browse all windows

What type of file systems is the Linux VM using?

the installation of RH Linux 7 is standard.

/dev/mapper/rhel-root on / type xfs (rw,relatime,seclabel,attr2,inode64,noquota)
selinuxfs on /sys/fs/selinux type selinuxfs (rw,relatime)
systemd-1 on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type autofs (rw,relatime,fd=30,pgrp=1,timeout=300,minproto=5,maxproto=5,direct)
debugfs on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw,relatime)
hugetlbfs on /dev/hugepages type hugetlbfs (rw,relatime,seclabel)
mqueue on /dev/mqueue type mqueue (rw,relatime,seclabel)
/dev/sda1 on /boot type xfs (rw,relatime,seclabel,attr2,inode64,noquota)

See page 18 of the VMware support doc - linked above.  Is XFS listed as supported?

that mean there is no single file recovery support for rhl7 64bit either ext4 or xfs. not good

RHL7(64bit) File-level recovery is supported for virtual machines that use the 32-bit version of the ext4 file system.
Support for the XFS and ext4 (64bit) file systems is planned for a future release

and

as remark for RHL32bit

NetBackup 7.x no longer includes Linux 32-bit clients.
Consequently , file-level restore directly to the Linux 32-bit virtual machine is not possible.

I canot undertsand! can any one built 32bit ext4 filesystem on an RHL 64bit OS?
