Hi,

I've had a quick Google search for issues with NetBackup v7.6.0.2 and was surprised to find that only two were listed on the LBN 7.6 page:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH199999

Below is a brief list of what I managed to find.

Is anyone else aware of any other issues to watch out for?

Items listed on LBN 7.6 page:

Shortly before the NetBackup 7.6.0.2 Maintenance Release was released, it was determined that recent changes made by Microsoft in their Windows 2012 R2 Update 1 would prevent granular recovery from working correctly when the NetBackup for Hyper-V role was used on backup hosts with the above mentioned update applied.

When the BMR boot server is upgraded from a previous version and especially when there are few existing SRTs (shared resource trees) available, the upgrade process does not automatically clean-up the older MS-WinPE 2.1 images. These need to be cleaned up manually.  If the manual cleanup is not done, there is a risk creating subsequent SRTs which will have the wrong version of MS-WinPE.  This can impact restores.

In very rare instances, one or a few Windows SQL-Server clients may intermittently become non-responsive and appear to hang.   In the minutes leading up to the hang condition, multiple bpcd -standalone and bpclntcmd -resync_host_cache processes will be observed to be consuming 100% CPU each.  In most cases the hang condition will clear after a few minutes or several hours.  If the host is rebooted, the condition may not reoccur for days, weeks, months, or ever.

BMR, at present the restore action re-configures the network details on the client system as defined by the retrieved client configuration. This action may overwrite the IP details provided by the user with the details used during the client’s backup. For example, in case the recovery happens on other subnet,  the ip-details as available in the configuration may not be valid. This can then result into client-master communication failure due to invalid network re-setup.

Hi Ken - I guess the trick is to Google for the next version(s) - so I searched for "NetBackup v7.6.0.3" and "NetBackup v7.6.0.4".  HTH.  Dave.

Almost all tech alerts will have either a EEB mentioned for a future version of Netbackup where the issues is resolved.

Generally, TechNotes won't be included in the Late Breaking News until we see them affect multiple customers (or is a serious issue represented by a Tech Alert).  We ARE trying to document every Etrack, however, so I'm not surprised you were able to compile such a large list.  Please be assured that most of these issues represent "edge cases" as I type this.  I only wish you'd used the short links so we could see the docIDs instead of "..."  !

Believe it or not, 7.6.0.2 has been quite stable!

Of course, 7.6.0.3 will be even better.  :)

Actually, now that I look at it, it DOES appear that TECH216367 (a Tech Alert with hotfixes) never made it into EITHER the 7.5 OR 7.6 LBN a month ago, so we'll have to fix that.

Thanks Chris.  I agree re edge cases, and fewer core cases - so, v7.6.0.2 does appear to be ticking more of the boxes.

They are both still expected sometime this quarter...but that's pretty easy for me to say when it's only 10 days into the quarter!

(But if you don't see them by October, feel free to write me and complain.)
