Server is not having own entry in /etc/hosts file

Please add entries as per my example above. This is a basic requirement.

After adding these hosts entries, run /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/install_bp to go though database creation again.

What does:

/usr/openv/db//bin/nbdb_ping show

If this shows data base is running, stop everything, set up EMM log

vxlogcfg -a -p 51216 -o 111 -s DebugLevel=6 -s DiagnosticLevel=6

Restart NBU and post up log

Is there a valid license on here as a matter of interest (I guess so as it's needed to install, but worth checking )

Many ways to investigate this, but hopefully the above will show something, if not, we look elsewhere.

Please post your  installation log. Look for install_trace.####  in /usr/openv/tmp.

Copy it to install.txt and post as File attachment.

We need to see what happened during database creation.

Please also post bp.conf as well as output of 'bpclntcmd -self'.

Hi mph999

[root@CDCUBKPSVR bin]# /usr/openv/db//bin/nbdb_ping show
Database [NBDB] is not available.

Hi marianne,

Attached the trace files.Removed the License info alone.

Anything in here :

/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/nbdb

Hopefully Martin can look at nbdb log and tell us what went wrong...

What I do see is failed attempts at 'getaddrinfo'.

Does the master server have /etc/hosts entry for itself?

It needs the following 2 entries:

127.0.0.1       localhost

<IP address>    CDCUBKPSVR

Hi martin,

the log present in the path is update in previous post as log080213.txt file.

Hi Marianne,

Server is not having own entry in /etc/hosts file

[root@CDCUBKPSVR ~]# cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1   localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
::1         localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

Great stuff!

Seems this requirement is not well documented...
(I have seen a TN, but not listed as requirement in Installation Guide.)

Hi,

Yes.

I thought since localhost entry is present. No need to make self entry.

Good Learning.Hence forth i ensure the self entry in /etc/hosts is made before installation.
