Master Server Migration From Solaris 10 to AIX

We are in the process of migrating our master server from Solaris 10 to AIX. Are there any considerations or problems foreseen in making the switch to a different OS. Is migrating the catalog difficult? Are there any reasons not to switch to AIX and instead migrate to Linux (Suse)?

Which NBU version? How are you doing catalog backups? Hot/Cold? To disk or tape?

Unix -> Unix migration is fine. Just keep the same hostname. Follow the steps in Troubleshooting Guide to perform full catalog recovery.

Carefully look at supported options/agents/features before making decision. Dedup and SAN Client are just two of the features not supported on AIX media servers. Most features are supported on Solaris and Linux media servers.

We are currently using version 6.5.4. Catalog backups are hot. We are writing to both tape and disk.

Thats really good information about SAN Client and dedup.
