Media ID Generation

Just need a little help with Media ID Generation...

I just had a catman migration from a RHEL 6.x host to a 5240 appliance; it appears that the barcode rules etc. didn't make it over. (not sure who else would have possibly gone in and deleted/changed this).

Anyways, tapes are showing up with "1234L5," and what I want them to show up with is "001234." I'm pretty sure this is in inventory robot -> update volume configuration -> advanced options -> media ID generation, but I'm not 100% sure; and in my attempts I haven't been able to get it set right. I did attempt to ask Mr. Google to help me find the answer I need, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Thanks in advance--

Try logical removing the tapes in the robot and perfrom a new inventory.

This is a media generation rule from one of my robots - file is from vm.conf

MEDIA_ID_BARCODE_CHARS = 1 8 1:2:3:4:5:6

Excatly how many chars does yore robot return ?.

E.g StorageTek robot hides the type .e.g L5 where other robot types report this back to the hosts.

When you say this was a migration, did you perform a catalog recovery? That should have included all media configurations.

@Nicolai Yes--I did find those two--but neither seem to be helping me to spit out the exact syntax I want for the Media ID. I tried 6 digits and 1:2:3:4, but it still came out with the L5 at the end... I'm trying to figure out how to make it put two zeros at the beginning.

@Krutons yes--I'd hate to think someone went in there and deleted that information, though. We had a CATMAN specialist and a Veritas tech on the line. Just about everything else went seamlessly.
