Media ID generation rule not applied

Hello

Using NB 6.5.4 with a Dell MSL 6020 TLD. Under Devices, Robots, the TLD have RobotNumber 2. The tape I wish to use have barcodelabel 002143L4. When doing an Inventory Robot, the tape is imported as 002143. I wish to import this tape as 2143L4. Under 'Advanved Robot Inventory Options' I have made a rule:

Robot Number: 2
Barcode Length: 8
Media ID generation rule: 3:4:5:6:7:8

This not working. Why?

I have to import this tape as 2143L4 because the tape is registered in the Catalog as this barcode, and I wish to do a restore from it.

BIG question - does the library see and report all 8 characters?
What does 's s' (show slots) in robtest display?

Hello

I figured it out. The library did see 8 characters but only reported 6 charachters to NetBackup. MSL6020 had an option for this under Setup->Partitions.

I will give you the solution status Marianne.

Thanx!!
