Media Server is showing client under Host Type

Good day!

Need help in isolating an issue on one of our media servers.

When checking under Netbackup Management -> Host Properties -> Media Servers,
and clicking on my Media Server [TAP3BCV], it is showing Client as the host type and not as Media Server.

Yesterday it was configured as a Media Server and after restrting netbackup services on said media server, it became a Client already.

It is currently configured as a robotic control also and backups are running perfectly.

but when trying to perform restore, it hangs at

MASTER: NetBackup-AIX53 7.1.0.4

MEDIA SERVER: NetBackup-AIX53 7.1

Thanks in advance!

Did you add SERVER entry for this media server in master's bp.conf followed by restart of NBU on master? What processes/daemons are running on the media server? Please show us output of 'bpps -x' on media server. Also verify comms with master with these commands on the master: nbemmcmd -listhosts -verbose nbemmcmd -getemmserver If all of the above checks out and devices and STU have been configured for the media server, you should be able to use media server for backup and restore. If backup was done by another media server, change media ownership with bpmedia command or add Media Host Override in Master's Host Properties.

Hi Marianne,

Thanks for your reply.

I managed to make it work after re-installing Netbackup on STU and reconfiguring it.

Thanks again!
