Hi All,

In one of teh Remote sites we are using a standalone Tape Drive Configured as the device in Netbackup Backup  5.0 MP7

Is there any option  to verify the Tape Status i.e The Tape is Write Protect or not on the Software Level in Netbackup and also in Backup Exe.

Your help is much appreciated.

In the Drive Status Pane for NetBackup 5.0, there is a "Writeable" column.  This shows whether the volume currently mounted on this drive is write-enabled.  Yes, in this column means the volume is write-enabled.  No, means the volume is write-protected.  A dash (-) in this column means there is no volume in the drive.

It may be beneficial for you to Pre-Label your media, as it will validate that the media is useable, compatible, and is not write protected.  You can refer to the product Media Manager Guide for more information.
