Can a Symantec media server (Sun Sparc M3000) handle DD Boost of EMC (Data Domain), when it is already having VTL (Tapes).

Sure - Netbackup does not VTL are virtual tapes as such. Should cause any issues.
Please note the VTL feature of the Data Domain does not work with DDBOOST. You will need to configure the Data Domain as a disk pool. The "EMC Data Domain Boost for Symantec NetBackup" guide has all the steps needed to configure both Data Domain and Netbackup for DDBOST operation.

Hello,
As long as the M3000 has the resources to handle the diskpool and VTL you should be fine.
If your not sure of hardware support, I would Check the HCL for your VTL and DD: NetBackup 7.x Hardware Compatibility List TECH76495

NBU sees VTL as normal robot and tape. This means that ddboost will not work.
You need to delete VTL config and config DD as Advanced (OST) disk in NBU and install the DD plugin on all media servers in order to use ddboost.
Ask your DD reseller for documentation or register on EMC website to locate documentation suggested by Nicolai.
