Mismatched Volume

BackupSysAdmin
Level 4

I replaced some full tapes with older tapes that the previous netbackup admin indicated could be used again.  However, I must have done something wrong as whne I performed robot inventory, the barcode and the media id for the tape in slot 3 do not match.

       Robot Contents      Volume Configuration
Slot Tape  Barcode       Media ID Barcode       Mismatch Detected
==== ====  ============= ======== ============= =================
1   Yes  BR5373        BR5373   BR5373
2   Yes  BR5379        BR5379   BR5379
3   Yes  ECL942        ECL929   ECL942
4   Yes  ECL927        ECL927   ECL927
5   Yes  ECL928        ECL928   ECL928
6   Yes  ECL956        ECL956   ECL956
7   Yes  BR5670        BR5670   BR5670

Can I correct this error without removing the tape?  The media id should be ECL942 instead of ECL929.  ECL929 was moved to one of the mailslots on my MSL8096 tape library.  Any assistance on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

doing just the update volume config without emptying the the MAP's and see if it changes.

if not then it was put in that way can can be change by command line

however if the tape has no valid backup images on it...

you can just leave the tape where it is, in the gui delete the media, then do an inventory again with update volume config - and if your media id generation rules are correct it should come back in correctly.

This might be left-over from previous incorrect actions...

I agree with JH - if media-id ECL929 is unassigned (check Assign Time in GUI) you can delete it and re-run inventory.
