Hi Enguessan,

What is version the SQL?

What is version the Netbackup?

You can try the restore from the netbackup agent in server SQL

See the link: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH51393.html

Are you trying to perform restore on the same host for which the backup was performed?

See if backups can be listed from cmd:

...\NetBackup\bin\bplist  -t 15 -S <master> -R \

If nothing is found, check output of 'hostname', NBU Client_Name and the name in Clients tab of the SQL policy.
NBU Client_Name can be seen on the host where you are restoring from in NetBackup Backup Archive and Restore GUI -> File -> Client Properties -> General -> Client name:
Are they all the same?
If not, (e.g. a node in a cluster), you need to treat this as a redirected restore.

See 'Redirecting a SQL restore to a different host' in  NetBackup for Microsoft SQL Server Administrator's Guide

Where are you running the bplist command?
Master or on the client where you are trying to restore from?
If you are trying to restore from the client that did the backup, can you run the bplist command without '-C client'?

Have you checked and compared hostnames as suggested in my post above?

I am trying to get you to double check search criteria as far as hostname is concerned. The GUI is also sending bplist command in the background. So, if bplist is working, double check the hostname in the GUI and the date range. We may be able to provide better assistance if you show us your bplist command and output on the client where you are trying to restore and screenshots of your GUI search criteria.

You need to trust someone with actual client name via PM or else log a call with Symantec. We need to see exact client name that is specified with bplist command and client name used in the GUI. If the client name in GUI is in lower case but backups were taken with upper case name (as indicated by your post above ) then the request for backups will fail. NBU is case sensitive. Names must match exactly. Client != client != CLIENT

Hi Marianne,

what is PM ?

for some SQL Backup, GUI can list the backup.

we have 11 sql servers. GUI can list backups of 5 servers. the other 6 servers cannot be listed on the same GUI.

I used Upper case and lower case for the servers that work. They work even if I use upper or lower case.

PM is Private message. If you click on my name (or anybody else's name on Connect ) you will see an option to send private message. I am honestly about to give up... been trying to help you for a week now and we are simply not making progress. You need to open the SQL GUI on the client where you want to restore the database. If it is not the same client that performed the backup, you need to take steps on the master server to allow redirected restore (create file(s) under altnames folder ). But we still don't know which client name you are trying to browse for backups or from which client or server name. If you are trying to restore to a different hostname, please go through the section in the manual that I mentioned on 23 April. Wishing you all the best.

Honestly, without showing us screenshots of criteria entered in the NBU for SQL GUI on the client, it is difficult (if not impossible ) to help you. You need to show us what you see.

I see that you are using lower case in bplist command but upper case in the GUI...

Have you tried lower case names in the GUI? (As per my suggestion on 27 April...)

To see how the GUI request is received and interpreted, you need bprd log on the master server.

If the folder does not exist on the master server, you need to create it and restart NBU.
After next GUI failure, copy log file in bprd to bprd.txt and upload as File attachment.

Hi,

I used lower case and upper case. both of them failed.

I did not have any log for bprd on the master. But, I have dbclient log on the client.

I'm on server navisionsrv. When I choose navisionsrv (upper or lower case), no backup are display on the GUI.

but when I use another server (for example) bbgsage, I can see the backup of that server on the GUI from navisionsrv server.
