Hi,
I've recently upgraded a standard Windows client to EC
On the Media server are the EC, SSO and LBTD licenses added -> NB version is 6.5.6
netbackup on Media Server restarted
master server is a UNIX Server NB version is 6.5.6
I've added the server to the master server -> Host properties-> master servers -> properties -> servers-> additional servers (Java Gui)
I've added the server to the EMM with -> nbemmcmd -addhost -machinename [Media Server] -machinetype media -masterserver [Master Server] -netbackupversion 6.5.6 -operatingsystem windows -scanability 9
If i check with nbemmcmd -listhosts-> the server is added and be found
I checked host properties-> media servers-> Server Host Type is "Media Server" -> status is connected
Under devices -> media Servers-> i can see the server as well with status "Active for Disk"
I've tied to run the Wizard for that server to create the storage devices and i receive the error:
[Master Server] (MM Status 255)
From the Media Server:
nbemmcmd -getemmserver
Failed to initialize EMM connection. Verify that network access to the EMM serv
er is available and that the services nbemm and pbx_exchange are running on the
EMM server. (195)
NBDB_ping
Database [NBDB] is not available.
Checked the services an find out that several services not running
NBEMM status stopped -> if i try to start the service i receive the following error:
Could not start the NetBackup Enterprise Media Manager service on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.
if i run bpclntcmd -pn i receive answer from the master server with the wrong name
as standard client was the server connected via the media port
the name of the server was abcp.nbc.com
I've changed the registry keys and changed the clientname in the Policy
The connection is now abc.nbc.com (see comment above -> connection from master to client is ok)
On the Master Server:
EMM and pbx_exchange is running proper
I've restarted netbackup on the master Server incl. pbx_exchange by run

Rather remove the software and reinstall. Much quicker than trying to hack registry, troubleshoot, etc.
EMM only runs on a master, not media server or EC.
Just ensure proper forward and reverse lookup between master and EC for pbx comms with EMM on master.
