NBU 6.5 support for IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS)?

Hi,

Anyone has any experience with Netbackup 6.5 + GPFS??

Does Netbackup 6.5 support GPFS?

I intend to mount GPFS on one of my server and was wondering if Netbackup has any issue backing up the file system(GPFS)?

Thanks in advance for any input.

GPFS is not included in our File System Compatibility list.  See page 62:

NetBackup (tm) 6.x Operating System Compatibility List (Updated August 7 2009)

Deepak's answer may put you onto a way to work around our lack of support, however.  ;)

Many people mounts GPFS partition as NFS on the same host (loopback). check whether this helps you backing up the partition. This will be kinda stop gap solution.

secondly refer to the below mentioned thread from IBM DeveloperWorks which says NBU has problem backing up the ACL but will backup the data.

they provide some patch for GPFS which bypasses the a bug in the NBU when it tries to fetch the xacls.

This thead is for NBU 5. Check with your IBM persons to have such patch for 6.5

Hope this will help you.

You should contact IBM server support team for this.

Show them the thread which I shared with you.
