Hello expert,

I have NBU 7.1 server on windows server 2008 64 bit, Some client running CentOS 6.2 64 bit and Windows 2008 server 64 bit. With client Windows is OK but with CentOS client I had problem.

After install NBU client I start it, but there are error:

[root@websvr-02 NetBackup_7.1_CLIENTS]# /etc/init.d/netbackup start
NetBackup Authentication daemon not started.
NetBackup network daemon started.
NetBackup client daemon started.
NetBackup SAN Client Fibre Transport daemon started.
NetBackup Bare Metal Restore Boot Server daemon started.

I already open iptable with port: 135, 445, 103x, 441

But the server can not connect to the client.

Please help me! What is should I do?

Thank you very much.

NBU needs forward and reverse name lookup between server(s) and client(s).

If your CentOS clients are not on DNS, you need to add /etc/hosts entry on client for itself as well as for master and media server(s) (if you have separate media servers).
Add hosts entries on server(s) for CentOS client as well.

Please disable iptables.
NBU uses ports 1556 and 13724.

Dear Marianne van den Berg,

Thank you very much. That's right!

I do not want to disable iptable, so I open all port in this link:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/symantec-netbackup-7-and-firewalls

Thank again.
