Some notes re SLP specific to NetBackup v7.1 only:

.

A more general high level view of SLPs in NetBackup v7.6 (apologies, but some of the points within this document may not be relevant to SLPs in NetBackup v7.1):

Disk Staging is associated with Basic Disk and cannot be used in SLP. Steps are explained in NBU Admin Guide I. In short: You will have 2 storage units (minimum). 1. Basic Disk with a dedicated volume on a drive letter or mount point 2. Tape Storage Unit. To configure disk staging, you will modify the BasicDisk STU and select the option at the bottom for temporary storage, select the tape STU and a pool for duplication and schedule for duplication periods. Any backup policies writing to DSU will automatically be duplicated to tape during windows specified in the staging schedule. Disk volume should be large enough to hold 2 or more full sets of backups. If disk gets to HWM specified in STU properties, the oldest backups that were successfully duplicated to tape will be expired and deleted. If backups were not successfully duplicated, disk will be marked as full and new jobs will fail. Please read through Storage Unit section of Admin Guide I as well as abovementioned TNs before you configure DSSU.
