Hi all,
I´m trying to upgrade my NBU from 7.5 to 7.5.0.6. I did updated master server (windows 2008 R2) and all windows clients to 7.5.0.6, but I have last one Linux client to update with this command "/bin/sh NB_update.install" and it shows me this error
"ERROR: Missing required server files in /tmp"
VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.README
VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.postinstall
VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.postuninstall
VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.preinstall
VrtsNB_7.5.0.6.preuninstall
Exiting NB_update.install
NB_CLT_7.5.0.6_tar-split.1of3
NB_CLT_7.5.0.6_tar-split.2of3
NB_CLT_7.5.0.6_tar-split.3of3
I´d used this command to unsplit files:
cat "file 1" "file 2" "file 3" > "file.tar"
Read and execute all steps on readme but the error persist.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks.

Can you actually see those files where you have extracted them (i assume in /tmp)
To be honest it sounds like the Linux server is a media server and actually needs the server patch as well
Are you sure it is just a client?

Will you please paste the output from the following command
rpm -qa |grep -i symc

Hi Mark,
Yes, those files are in /tmp.
I´m sure that it is a client, of course.

Please show us all the files (ls -l output) that were extracted when you untar'ed the file.tar ?

Hi Marianne, here is list of files: I put this in another directory /tmp/nbu, because there are more files in /tmp.

SYMCnetbp-7.5.0.0-0.x86_64 says NBU Server software was installed, not just Client software.
Client software package is SYMCnbclt. SYMCnetbp is Server package.
You will have to download Server patch as well.

Exaclty - that's why I asked for this output from rpm -qa...
I would deinstall everyting there (you should follow the unisntall instructions from NBU install guide for your OS) and install pure client SW. Maybe preserve the exclude_list* include_list* if any
And of course mark Mark_solutions post as solution ;) Mark is your nick anyhow connected to solutions you provide ;)

My client could be running as client with server software installed?

quebek ... The company i work for is known as "Solutions" (easier to say than Cognitive Network Solutions) hence my nick name ... only after i signed up did I realise that the "mark as solution" button exists - but i have done my best to live up to my nick name since i joined!!

Correct.
Server software includes Client Software.
You will see folders under /usr/openv such as
/usr/openv/volmgr
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies
Server software also has a 'version' file here:
/usr/openv/netbackup/version
in addition to the Client version file:
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/version

Thank you everybody, but now I have another problem.
Who gave me the solutions, all of you helped me to fix my problem.
I think of Quebek started solution asking me for files I had on my client.
This is a problem for ohters?

Hello Mark
Thank you for answering. I found it funny ;) Mark_Solutions and Mark as Solution. Nice 'coincidence'...

I am opting for Mark - he was the first one to negate that this is pure client....
I think you can even split the solution into two posts... I am all for Mark.

aa btw to check if this is pure clients verify if there are not storage units attached to this one system, ie:
bpstulist -U ran from Master server
search for Host Connection and make sure this client is not mentioned there...
#EDIT#
Or more practical one
nbemmcmd -listhosts
and search for this client name next to media...

Mark was first to ask about Server installation over here:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/nbu-7506-client-upgrade#comment-9456791
Then quebek helped us to find out by asking rpm output:

You can select the 'Request Split Solution' link if you want to mark both posts.
