NBU 7.5.0.6 - duplicate a backup image to an existing tape

Hi all,

after our vault job has finished. One of the backup image is missing on the tapes. Is it possible to duplicate this missing image to the used tapes for the vault job? On the tapes there is enough space left. I don't like to erase the tapes and run the whole vault job again.

use the netbackup admin GUI (catalog->duplicate) to duplicate the backup image.

if you use the correct storage unit, volume pool and retention netbackup, most probably, will append to that tape. To be sure, eject all media belonging the target pool from the robot.Of curse do not eject the target tape.

Double check that the tape with space left is not Suspended. 

It is common practice to config Vault to suspend tapes after duplication and eject.

To make 100% sure that this tape is chosen, suspend all other available tapes in the pool.
If you have a Scratch pool, de-select the Scratch tickbox from the pool properties.

In short - do everything possible to ensure this tape is the only possible choice for duplication.
If you do not have media sharing, ensure that the same media server is selected for the duplication and specify same pool and retention level as other images on the tape.

The moment the tape is chosen for duplication, you can unsuspend the tapes that you have just suspended and put the Scratch tickbox back for the Scratch pool.

To prevent this situation in future, carefully check selection criteria - from x number of days till x number of days/hours.
