I'm hearing rumors that Nearstore DSU’s will still be supported in NBU 7.   Can anyone confirm this?  Thanks

Disk storage units are still supported in NetBackup 7.0

NBU Nearstore DSU's integrate with NetApp filers and take advantage of NetApp's native deduplication.   Symatec  stated that it would no longer be supported after 6.5.x.  I’m hearing that they have changed their mind.  Can you confirm this?

Nothing will stop you from using a netapp by mounting and declaring it as a basic disk, so nearstore support is really needed ?

A simple yes or no would suffice.  I realize that I can use the NetApp disk as a basic disk device but that would require licensing CIFS or NFS and reconfiguring a bunch of stuff.  The Nearstore DSU's work perfectly and I would prefer not th have to change anything.

Or you can declare a FC/iSCSI LUN on your NetApp.

Just plug some very large USB drives into your Netbackup servers, much cheaper than Netapp gear.

You're not serious are you?

At least make it eSATA.  USB2.0 cant get more than 30MB/s (notice BYTES, not Bits) of throughput.  I've got SD cards for my camera that can write that fast.
