NBU Backup of EMC Isilon

DE_MC
Level 0

Large NDMP jobs fail with ‘failed to write data at offset ######’ errors, and ‘could not send server status message to client’.  Attempts to use regular expression wildcards to break the large jobs into several smaller jobs fail, using /<dir>/userdirs/[a-fA-F]* (and numerous combinations of wildcard examples) fail with ‘unable to find the volume <volume>’.  NBU is version 8.0, Isilon is A200 with OneFS ver 8.1.0.4, should we be able to use wildcards withi 8.1.0.4 (and NBU 8.0), if so, examples of legal wildcard configurations to break out large jobs into several batches

As per NetBackup NDMP guide you cannot use * after brackets hence they are failing.

For error "failed to write data at offset ######’ errors, and ‘could not send server status message to client"

It looks to be an issue with tape drive/storage, change the storage unit for this backup. If you cannot do that then you need to investigate from destination storage hardware.

If Storage hardware is good then open a case with Veritas support for further investigation.
