NBU Error Code 156: ERR - Volume resolution error on Server 2012

Hi All,

I'm hoping that someone out there has seen this issue and can help me out. We are currently running the NBU Client (7.1.0.4) on a two node Windows 2012 cluster. The active node completes the backup just fine. The passive node fails with error code 156 every day. The log generated is below.

We have checked VSS, ignored unresolved volumes, restarted services, made sure there was plenty of free space on the server and set for shadow storage.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

My guess would be that there is a service installed on one of the shared disks

Suggest you go through the points here:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/vss-troubleshooting-status-1-156

If the problem is a service installed on on of the shared disks, the ExcludedBinaryPaths registry key is a possible solution.

Agree that you should upgrade to at least 7.5.0.6 for Windows 2012

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

Hi All,

We did upgrade the client and that solved our issue. Thank you all for the help.
