NBU backup error: No drives are available

__bug

HI,

NBU 6.5.4 is installed on Solaris 10.
My tape library has two drives, and same type.
STORAGE UNITS  has already set Maximun concurrent writes drives=2.

when I begin to backup the file in different client,then the first job is normal in DRIVE 1, another job's status is
=============
12/25/2010 14:25:06 - requesting resource v250-hcart2-robot-tld-0
12/25/2010 14:25:06 - requesting resource v250.NBU_CLIENT.MAXJOBS.SISDB_B
12/25/2010 14:25:06 - requesting resource v250.NBU_POLICY.MAXJOBS.filesystem_SISDB_B
12/25/2010 14:25:06 - awaiting resource v250-hcart2-robot-tld-0. No drives are available.
=============

And then, I cancel the first job, the second job will start to backup in the DRIVE 2.

By the way, Running the Drive Diagnostics and Robot Diagnostics are both successful.

what's wrong with my NBU?

Is your first jobs policy having Allow Multiple Data Streams option checked?

If your first job is splitted into 3 jobs (1 parent & 2 child), then it may be the reason for your issue, not quite sure.

Try increasing Maximum Concurrent Write Drives to a bigger value.

May help you...

Regards.

HI Kiran,

 I did not set about multiple streams in my NBU. each job backup different client.

 only one drive can work at a time.

It's so bad it did not impact error, but waiting.

If both the clients are members of same policy, then uncheck Limit jobs per policy or increase the value.

Please post output of the following:

/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpconfig -l

/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmoprcmd -d

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpstulist -L

Please also share more info - have you been able to use both drives previously? If so, there might be orphaned drive allocations in NBU resource broker. Run nbrbutil -dump. Check bottom part of output for MDS allocations.
