I find the NBU return code 156 , and backup failed .  The backup mount point is from EMC SAN .

May I know if this problem on the EMC time machine on the VSP to take the snapshot backup.  If this is no relative EMC, so what is the problem to fix it ?   Can you please advice ?

You will see status 156 whenever Microsoft VSS is running out of space. You can either re-size the VSS area or set Netbackup to continued the backup upon snapshot failure. I recommend adjusting the VSS. See tech note below on how to do. VSS space being used is dependent on the disk write activity during backup.

PS: This blog explain how VSS work in a easy to understand writing

Status 156 is the generic snapshot error status. To see the root error, check your bpfis log on the client.

If the client is Solaris, VSS does not apply. It's a Windows thing.

Are you really on NetBackup 7.1.x or earlier?
